The Well-Seasoned Librarian Podcast: 3/14- 3/18. Ann Mah (Kitchen Chinese), J.P. McMahon (Irish Cookbook),Darina Allen (Ballymaloe Cookery School) and Caroline Hennessy (Official Guinness Cookbook)
I have a large list of quests this week. I’d had a chance to talk to several authors who I love and I wanted to share these conversations with you. Because I had two authors from Ireland, I threw in an additional encore presentation to make this week partially centered around Ireland. I’ve been really blessed to get to talk to some of my literary and culrinary heroes and love nerding out on an author whose work I am enthusiastic about!
Ann Mah (Kitchen Chinese,The Lost Vintage, Instantly French) The Well Seasoned librarian Podcast: Season 6: Episode 3 This episode is scheduled to run on Monday March 14, 2:00 am.
About Ann Mah
I enjoyed getting a chance to talk to one of my favorite authors. This is an author whose fiction really makes me want to not put the book down. Ann Mah’s Kitchen Chinese is a fantastic book with many memorable characters. I often think of these characters and what they are doing after the end of the book. Her work “The Lost Vintage” is a poignant story within a story that has multiple storylines running across time. Both books have heroines who are culturally “fish out of water” but manage to rise above difficulty and defy any hurdles that come thier way.
Ann Mah says in her bio -"I’m an American writer based in Paris and Washington, DC. My articles on food and travel have appeared in the New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, the Washington Post, Vogue.com, Food52, BonAppétit.com, Best American Travel Writing 2017, Washingtonian magazine, and other publications. To read some of my recent work, take a look at my clips here.
My new novel, The Lost Vintage, is a USA Today bestseller and Indie Next pick. I’ve also written a memoir, Mastering the Art of French Eating – which was an Amazon editors’ pick, and winner of the Elle readers prize – and a novel, Kitchen Chinese, which Publishers Weekly called “a great start for a writer with much promise.” I’m also the author of Instantly French, a French cookbook for the Instant Pot and other multifunctional electric pressure cookers. My books have been translated into over twelve languages.”
